Bank of England keeps interest rates on hold

The Bank of England has today voted to keep interest rates on hold but it has given a firm signal that an August rate rise is likely, leading to a jump in the value of the pound.
As the economy continues to improve, the Monetary Policy Committee within the Bank has rising concerns about the rate of inflation leading to a pressure for a rise in interest rates later this year.
