8 July, 2013
The youth homelessness charity Centrepoint says that the lack of affordable housing England means that there will be a major crisis by 2021.
The organisation says that almost a million properties at sub-market rents are needed to avert this crisis.
The largest shortfall is likely to be in London, with about 186,333 affordable homes needed, followed by the East Midlands with 132,587 and Yorkshire and Humber with 128,478.
