Government still ‘underinvesting in building’
3 July, 2013
A leading charity has attacked successive governments for not investing enough in building homes.
The homeless charity Shelter highlighted figures from the 2011 Census showing a doubling of families privately renting over the past 10 years.
The study using data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) also revealed that the proportion of families owning their own home dropped by 13 per cent between 2001 and 2011.
