New report urges failed shops to be turned into homes

As more and more high street shops continue to close, a new report out this week says that many of these failed retail units should instead be turned into homes, offices or entertainment venues.
The Centre for Retail Research predicts that in five years, there will be a 22% reduction in the amount of stores on the high street and calls for a £320 million government “pump-priming” fund to redevelop problem town centres.
